HQ Remote is very simple to use. The side navigation opens up to show you what each of the icons does, but so there’s no confusion here’s a breakdown for you.
Availability
This lets you set your availability for other users to hit you up for a chat.

  • Available - this means you are available to chat if someone needs you.
  • Busy - this means you are busy. HQ Remote continues to take your photo but other team members will not be able to chat with you. If someone needs you urgently they can click on your photo and send you an alert. You’ll hear a door knocking sound and see an alert message in HQ Remote.
  • Away - use this setting when you are away from your desk for a period of time like going to lunch or off for a meeting. In away mode your camera is disabled and will not take any snaps.

Snap interval
You can control how often HQ Remote takes your photo.

  • Every minute
  • Every 5 minutes
  • Manual - in manual mode your photo will only be taken when you manually take a snap.

Status
This lets you set a status message that shows in the bottom left of your chat head.

  • Click the icon to add a message. It can be anything you like, let your team know you’re at lunch, or share some of your hilarious comedic genius.

Video mode

This lets you choose between chat head video or full screen video when you are having a chat with a team mate.

  • Chathead View - stays in the normal HQ Remote chathead view and changes chatheads to video
  • Chathead With Others - Like chathead view but only with the team mates that are on the call
  • Full screen mode - any time you start a video call with team mates it will be in full screen mode.

Screen share
Share your screen with anyone on a call.

  • Click this icon to open up a dialog that lets you select which window you’d like to share.
  • When done sharing your screen, click this icon to return to video chat mode.

Note that it is best to ensure that your anyone wanting to view your screen share is in full screen video mode before you start a call to ensure the best viewing experience.

Photo Options
We offer a variety of photo options.

  • The normal snap
  • Click this icon to switch your snap into low pixelated mode
  • Click this icon to switch your snap into high pixelated mode
  • Click this icon to switch your snap into a GIF
  • Click this icon to switch your snap into black and white
  • Click this icon to switch your snap into greyscale

Note that time snap interval and pixelation can be activated and deactivated by your team admin and may not be present for some teams. The ability for an admin to control these setting is a feature only available in a HQ Remote Pro account.
